"A Scout is Reverent" Policy
For Council/district Weekend Camps and Events

Northern Star Council encourages all units and
members to support the twelfth point of the Scout Law – “A Scout is
Reverent.” For district and council weekend events held under council
auspices ... and previously scheduled within the Program Planning
Calendar, the Northern Star Council's Religious Advisory Committees on
Scouting will seek to provide clergy/religious leader coverage for
services.

The program planners will not dictate what satisfies
one's obligation or demand participation in provided worship experiences
... but seek to cooperate in the spiritual development of all Scouts and
providing adequate adult leadership for all. The same sensitivity should
be practiced regarding religious dietary requirements when making food
menus and in offering prayers in the mixed representation of various
faiths.
Further, special care will be taken to prevent the
scheduling of Scouting events during religious high holy days. |
